Anyone who says yes to songbirds must also say yes to insects. If you spray the insects, you also kill the birds.
Let birds help us: Against the immigrant cherry vinegar fly that spoils our fruit. Against mosquitoes that plague us and even transmit diseases. Songbirds are useful. They eat a lot of annoying insects.
Let us help the songbirds. Let a corner of the garden go wild. Hang nesting boxes. And also: tits need insects as a source of food. This is especially true when they are raising their young.
Helping songbirds in winter!
Tits are not migratory birds. They stay with us in winter. In winter they need more energy, but there are few insects. That's why they eat grains like sunflower seeds.
Anyone who feeds tits protects butterflies. Tits eat a lot of butterfly pupae over the winter. Even from species that are much more endangered than the tits themselves. If there is enough grain food, more butterflies remain.
Your help is welcome. Help our songbirds with food over the winter. In places with little food and few insects, it helps to feed them in summer too.
